Hi my loves, and Happy New Year! 🤍
I hope 2026 has been treating you well so far and that you’re just as excited as I am to see what this year will bring.
I’d also like to welcome you to An Inquisitive Mind 2.0. For those of you who have supported me from the very beginning of An Inquisitive Mind – five and a half years ago, thank you for your patience. A lot has happened during this time away and I can confidently say I am in a new season. With that comes a fresh perspective, a renewed vision, and as you can see, a brand-new website too!
What happened and where have I been?
For those who may not know, I originally started An Inquisitive Mind in 2020 during COVID-19 as a ‘self-development’ blog. It explored a range of topics such as self-development and sustainability tips, poetry, recipes and general lifestyle content (whatever that actually means). While it was fun at the time, in full transparency, I got caught up in doing so many different things and lost sight of the actual purpose.
It became unclear for me what the blog was truly meant to be which led to a lack of direction and therefore showed up in my inconsistency. I would reference some scriptures at the end or so, but I wasn’t fully committed and/or convicted enough. I recognise now that the cares of the world and distractions crept in…I lost sight of the vision I once had and began doing things by my own strength. This which you can probably guess…failed terribly.
A Call to Action
Fast forward to present today, I am in a new season and God is truly doing something new, fresh and exciting! Although, with that in mind I also know He is requiring more from me. This being more of my time, more devotion, and for me to return and fix my gaze to fully focus on Him.
Scripture says in 1 Corinthians 13:11 (GNT):
“When I was a child, my speech, feelings, and thinking were all those of a child; now that I am an adult, I have no more use for childish ways.”
With this in mind, I’ve had to ask myself: How am I different from before? What am I saying, doing, and thinking—and how does this reflect Him? Essentially, I know there is a need for growth not just in the physical sense but spiritually. This being because there is no room for childish things where God is calling me too. I would ask as you reflect inwardly too, respectfully, I’m sure the same could be said for you.
Looking back on the years between my last post and now, many things have happened and from my lived experience no one can tell me there is no God ! In these last few years I can definitely see God hand over my life and remain encouraged He see’s, hears and understands us. I am grateful He has been with me in the mountaintop and also in the valley. In saying this, all circumstances and seasons have been used to shape me into who I am today. With that being said, I am truly thankful for His mercy, His grace, His goodness, and ultimately for the fact that He is God over my life!
I say all of this to say, the aim of this platform is to share the things I have learnt, am learning and also unlearning in the time spent in reading the word. The word being the Bible – side note- is honestly the best ‘self-help book’ that could have ever been made.
In doing so I hope that as scripture notes in Proverbs 27:17, ‘Just as Iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the mind of each other’ , that this platform is used to enlighten and intrigue all those that come across it.
No, I do not proclaim to be a theologian neither am I a perfect human and most definitely I cannot say that I have ‘arrived’. This is why I need God and it would be selfish of me to keep quiet about what He has done, what I am learning through His word, who He is, has been and forever will be in my life.
So…. I hope that as you follow me on my journey in pursuing Him more than ever before you will also become curious and child-like enough to seek Him. This being with the intention of choosing relationship over religion.
What next?
With that said, in this new season and phase of An Inquisitive Mind, the anchor scripture is Psalm 36:9. The King James Version says:
“For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.” This scripture highlights that it is through the light of Christ that we also receive light. Therefore revelation through His Word – Illumination through Christ.
As I reflected on this scripture, a few things were highlighted :
The Word of God- Produces Blessings.
As He is light and we see light, there is a deeper intimacy with God that can develops as we take Him seriously. In Ephesians 1:18 we are reminded that there are many blessings available to us as God’s children and through His Word we become wiser and more aware of His goodness. These of which are freely given to us.
The Word of God – Transforms.
There is wholeness and healing found in the word of God, as we can receive replenishment and restoration. Through this knowledge because life flows to us from God there is nothing else that can truly satisfy us – for everything else in this life is but temporary. This is encouraging as we no longer need to live in darkness as we once did before and are brought out into His glorious light. (Ephesians 5:8-9). Whatever guilt, shame, sorrow that currently holds you down…whatever it is once was as we recognise that we are light, and we receive life through His word we can be assured that as we belong to the Lord we are set free (Romans 8: 1-2). Through this, as we deepen our intimacy with Him there also comes conviction – an awareness of our sin which is a reminder of the fact of why we must consider God in all we do. This being in respect of our words, thoughts, behaviours which influence our heart posture. Through this then we can let our lights shine, living good and honest lives.
The Word of God – Guides.
We are able to walk and be guided by the love and light of God which allows us to see clearly (Psalm 119:105) and sets us apart from the ways of this world as His chosen people (1 Peter 2:9). This means choosing to no longer conform to the world’s ways, but instead allowing God to have His way over our lives (Romans 12:2). Although, there must be a willingness to follow God wherever He leads us and a trust in Him throughout the journey that where He leads us is where is best ( Jeremiah 29:11).
As we seek His truth and light , He will surely show us the way in which we can go as where He guides, He will provide (Isaiah 58:11).
The Word of God – Reveals.
The Word of God dispels darkness and reveals what needs to be removed. There is a call for us to preserve our purity. Just as Jesus had no sin or darkness in Him we can see His light reveals what things truly look like (Ephesians 5:13). As we are called to be light and to receive His revelation, we must remove distractions, everything and anything that hinders us from fully receiving His Word.
As noted, I don’t claim to know everything that’s why I recognise the need to lean on God and not on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). In addition to this, as noted in Jeremiah 33:3 the word encourages us to freely come to His presence, seeking Him and asking Him who reveals things what we wouldn’t know on our own.
His light reveals all, exposing what is not of Him and as He is the revelation light we can see ahead because of Him (Psalm 18:28).
Prayer:
Father Lord, please help me to walk in the light of Your love, which brings life and to receive the light of revelation. Set me apart, and may my life bring glory and honour to Your name. Amen (Psalms 43:3).
Please subscribe, comment and/or share the post as you feel led and we shall catch up soon.
