Hello my lovelies, and welcome to An Inquisitive Mind – Illumination through Christ.

Will you listen?

In today’s post, the anchor scripture will be Luke 5:5-7.

In this scripture we can see Peter was out all night trying to gather some fish but his mission was unsuccessful – as he hadn’t caught a thing. Although, despite his efforts not coming to much Jesus commanded him to try again.

In an act of faith Peter’s response was ‘if you tell me to, I will let the nets down’ (CEV).

Following this act of obedience we can see that he caught so many fish that the nets began ripping apart. Peter even had to request for assistance from others whose boats became ‘so full’ that it began to sink – with the amount of fish that was inside.

It doesn’t have to make sense to us.

We mustn’t forget that despite things not making sense in the natural Peter still obeyed and was blessed for it.

The same goes for us, as we cast our nets down and surrender our pride, every weight and/or brokenness we may be holding onto.

The Lord will help make sense of all that is going on for us and we will surely be blessed. So, wherever there is guilt, shame, upset or regret that is causing us to be weary or even wary, hope is not lost.

We can be encouraged by seeing how Peter’s story changed as he went from hopeless to hopeful.

The Lord can also change our stories as we trust and obey Him.

Let us pray.

Father Lord, I pray that you will help us to let go of disappointment, turmoil and every weight that may be dragging us down and hindering us from fully trusting in you. Please help us to fully surrender, not just saying so in our words but with surrendered hearts, giving you our circumstances and our lives in totality – Amen.
