Hello my lovelies, and Welcome to An Inquisitive Mind – Illumination through Christ.

I have recently started a personal bible study on David and have been reflecting on the transformation of his character and also his journey into becoming. Thus far I can see that throughout the many circumstances he entered into he definitely made sure to let God know about it !!

Jokes aside –

Yes, David made some mistakes (just like we all do) but the reason he is labelled as a man after God’s heart is because we see in 1st and 2nd Samuel alongside in Psalms how consistent he was in conversing with God.

Whether things had gone his way or not we see how David clearly expressed himself to the one who gave him the language to speak.

This is the same for us.

God gives us the language to share our pain, our confusion, our joy and our victory in Him.

He is there with us and remains a good God throughout it all but we need not forget that ‘nothing is a waste’.

It can all be used for His Glory. This being to bring us closer to Him, to align us to His will – even for character development as my Pastor would say.

Trust in Him and do not fear.

In Psalm 56:3-4, we see how David despite having been chased away from what he knew into a place of uncertainty he remained confident in the promises of God. This being as he was saved before and knew that God would come through for him again.

As God was able to deliver him, we can also have this same confidence. Whilst it may look like we are surrounded or even if it feels like the world is closing in on us we can rest in His comfort (Psalms 23:4).

We will not be harmed despite what it may look like around us (Jeremiah 29:11). For God is there with us and shall comfort us of every burden we may be carrying and/or strengthen us where we may feel weak.

Whatever it is we may be going through or wanting God will answer us at the right time. This being in the way He see’s fit which doesn’t necessarily mean we will get what we ‘want’ but rather what we need – which is even better. For GOD is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we can ask, think of and/or imagine (Ephesians 3:20-21).

It is ONLY through Him where we are able to feel secure (Psalms 94:19).

It is ONLY through Him where true safety is found (Psalm 94:22).

Don’t hide your feelings from Him but bring them to Him.

As soon as we recognise that our help comes from God then life will feel so much simpler. This being because as we keep our eyes on Him we can be assured that we will not be put to shame (Psalm 34:4-5).

Although, when we choose to put our trust in man things will fail – as the best of man is still a man (Romans 3:23).

If that mistake has been made then we can be reassured that even though we may suffer for a while He will bring us out safely (Psalm 34:19).

As we remain transparent with how we are feeling and share this with God our experiences can be used as a source of encouragement to our fellow brothers and sisters (2 Corinthians 1:4).

We see this with David, where at a point David he was distraught but then later testified of how God ‘…transformed his wailing into an whirling dance of ecstatic praise’ (Psalm 30:11-12). We can see that when we bring our emotions to Him, God is able to do the miraculous and use His power to create solutions to our problems.

It is as we follow His leading that we will start to recognise that our faith is being strengthened – as He leads us in the way we should go (Isaiah 48:17).

He knows everything so we are safe in His hands.

At times we can end up acting out of alignment with what God wants for us which results in us then condemning ourselves and therefore leads us to running away from Him as opposed to towards him. Although, He knows all things and nothing is hidden from Him so God would much rather us come and seek His face. This being because he knows more about us than we do ourselves (1 John 3:20).

We can have confidence in Him – our choice forever – our everything (Psalm 73:25-26).

Let us pray:

Father Lord, I am thankful for the good, the bad and even the in-between of which has led me to this point at which I am at today. I am grateful because nothing is ever a waste for you are able to turn my pain into joy, my confusion into clarity, my panic into peace and turn my life around for good.

I thank you for life because it is a signifier that I have the capacity to still hope and trust in you. Please help me not to listen to the lie that I am too far gone, or that this is the end of my journey when I make a mistake. Instead please help me rather to continually seek you in everything I go through.

I am thankful for what you have done, what you are doing and all that you are yet to do in my life.

Help me to remember that nothing I go through is ever a waste, for you will use it for my good.
