Things do get better.

Recently, I met up with a friend and we spoke at length having a catch up regarding our careers, health, friends/family and rounded up discussing what we were excited for regarding the rest of the year.

It was beautiful to reflect on the moments and new chapters we were entering into. Throughout our 9 years of friendship there have been very different versions of one another we have experienced. This made me to further reflect on the fact of how mindful God has been of me in each ‘phase’ and for the fact He has remained the same every step of the way.

Focus on your focus.

Whilst meditating on Matthew 14:27-31, I was reminded that I need not be afraid for God is with us through every circumstance. The story of Peter walking on water provides a visual representation of this. This being as we saw when Peter set his gaze to focus on God alone he drew closer to Him. Although, when he set his gaze onto his circumstances and what was ahead (the wind) this unsettled him causing Peter to ‘sink’.

He knew that he needed saving and cried ‘Lord, save me’ to which as He always does He came to the rescue. The question He asked was ‘Why did you doubt?’.

This is a question I continue to ask myself in situations like this, before it gets to the point of me sinking I look back at the track record God has.

He has never failed me.

God’s got your back.

Looking at Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV) which states ‘Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows‘.

As He cares for the sparrows ask yourself – how much more us?

We can remain encouraged for we are truly more precious than sparrows whom of which He still watches over. We are underneath His wing and he cares so much about us. There is no need to stress, worry or be afraid because He knows the plans He has for us which are to bless and prosper us (Jeremiah 29:11).

With this said, I am encouraged in this season that whether He says ‘yes’ or ‘no’ – I can still give Him thanks. This being because everything that has happened to me up until this point has led to who I am today.

Remain encouraged.

The Lord orders our steps so we need not be fearful as there is safety and security found in Him. He deserves all the praises due to His name because of this alone (Psalm 26:12).

If you may have wandered away from God because of feelings of hopelessness or restlessness be rest assured you can come back into his arms – for He lovingly watches over us. For He is Lord, protector, friend and shield (1 Peter 2:25).

He is God with us who makes all things well and never changes (Isaiah 40:8).

Do not forget who you serve.

We must not forget that we serve a God of suddenly.

Whatever situation that may seem unfavourable for us at present God is able to turn matters around for our good.

We can see this in Acts 9:3-5 where Saul was blinded but in Acts 9:17-19 ‘suddenly’ something like fish scales fell from Saul’s eyes. Saul was then able to start the mission God had called him into completing. Also, in Acts 12:6-7, we see God work ‘suddenly’ again where an angel from the Lord appeared to Peter and helped him escape out of prison.

With this said we must give Him our full devotion, remaining faithful to Him and trusting in His kindness (Psalm 26:3).

We must not worship any other god but Him alone (Exodus 34:14).

Let us pray:

Father Lord, I thank you for being so mindful of me. For you have been so faithful, kind and just over the years. As I reflect on your track record, I can’t help but sing of your praises forevermore. Please help me to remain at peace in the fact that you remain the same and never change. I put my hope and trust in you, as you align my life to your will for me. Amen x
