In Him our Strength is renewed.

Hello my lovelies, and welcome to An Inquisitive Mind – Illumination through Christ.

As we have entered into October, I had soon come to realise we are just under 3 months and a bit till the end of 2026 – which I still cannot believe.

If you know me personally, your aware that I love having things to look forward to in the day, weeks and month as all work no play is boring. With that said, I am very happy about what God is doing in my life and that of those around me. This being as it has been back to back testimonies, and opportunities to celebrate one another from new jobs, engagements, birthdays, events and weddings. I am grateful to note there have been many firsts too which has included an increase in responsibilities and commitment.

Despite the excitement for what is to come, I am reminded of the fact that I need to ‘Slow down’ and enjoy the process. Funnily enough, following from a work trip back home my taxi driver had shared I would be his last customer of the day. I looked and saw it was peak time on a Friday afternoon but yet he said he would be going home. He had mentioned that the night before he had gone to the gym and recognised that his body needed rest. I commended him for this, even if it may seem like a simple ‘admission’ – it is not always easy to recognise when we need to slow down.

It can’t just be me?

He knows what we need.

In 1 Kings 19:1-5, we see Elijah having ran away from Jezebel following a threat having been made. Due to his distress this led him into a panic and resulted in him calling out to God and begging to die. It is evident that Elijah was exhausted and started to spiral. Although, God is a good Father and He gives good things. What do we see in 1 Kings 19: 5-8… we see that God sent an angel to wake him up. This angel reminded him to ‘get up and eat’ but not only was this instruction granted – the resources were provided. This being a jar of water and some baked bread, which he ate and went back to sleep.

The Lord had not just done this once but twice, where Elijah was told the consequence should he not eat… that he would be too tired to travel. Elijah obeyed and scripture said it made him strong enough to walk 40 more days.

We see that God sent him exactly what He needed. So, what do you need – is it to watch what your eating, become stricter in your social calendar, work smarter at work, rest in Him by reading the word, singing worship and praises to him.

I am sure there are some easy ways to ‘free up’ space in our lives but there has to be a willingness to bring this to God. Although, I appreciate we may not always know how to best prioritise our list of to-do’s but remain encouraged that God gives us what we need. This being exactly when we need it – so we can slow down and trust in Him.

He is not to be limited.

As Elijah continues in his journey we see in 1 Kings 19:11-12 that the Lord was instructing him further. This passage acted as a reminder of the fact that the Lord will come in whichever way He see’s best. He could have come in the wind, in the earthquake or fire but he chose to come as a gentle breeze.

We cannot put a limit on God and what He wants to do for us and/or how He chooses to speak to us.

What we can do is to be at peace knowing God is with us throughout it all.

We belong to Him.

In Psalm 55:22, we are reminded of the fact that we belong to God and can tell Him about our worries and He will keep us remaining strong. We can fully trust Him with our pain, shame, guilt and upset for we know you will make something beautiful out of it.

For He gives us beauty for ashes, and as He beautifies our lives He will change our sorrow into praise (Isaiah 61:3).

Although, this is only if we allow Him to by ‘casting our burdens’ and surrendering all unto Him we can be ‘renewed’ (Psalm 51:10).

For He can be trusted to sustain us (Psalm 55:22).

Let us pray

Father Lord, I thank you because you are my hiding place in which I can seek refuge from. Please help open my eyes to see the things which may be distracting me from true rest in you, so that I can receive total restoration. I ask that you will also please help me instil greater boundaries with my; time, resources and money. This being so that I do not live by societies expectations of me, above your own and/or get caught up in a cycle of restlessness.
